Junior Barbell 101
Contrary to what you might have heard, introducing resistance training to youth will not stunt their growth. This doesn't mean that kids should be lifting heavy weights on principle, but they should be getting familiar with different types of resistance, like bodyweight exercises, free weights, resistance bands, and other implements around the same age they become interested in sports — usually between 6 to 8 years old.
The Youth Barbell 101 class is designed for teens ages 12 years and up who want to safely get stronger, learn the fundamental barbell movements such as squatting, deadlifting, bench pressing, over head pressing and rowing with proper technique and form.
We would never allow kids to drive without learning the technique, rules, and the progressions of safety, yet too often we see youth undertaking exercise programs for which they are not ready.
The Youth Barbell 101 class is the perfect addition for young athletes who are just being introduced to sports performance programs. As well as youth who don't play competitive sports but want to learn the fundamental skills and movements that they will take with them throughout their lifetime of fitness and physical activity.
Classes are kept small to ensure proper supervision, safety and continued progression.
